Motti Malka, the mayor of Kiryat Malachi, and the employee who claims he raped her were filmed and the tapes are in police custody, police representatives told the court on Wednesday morning.
Police arrested arrested Malka on May 9 along with his deputy and five others on suspicion of raping and extorting sex from a municipal employee in return for tax benefits. Police also suspect that the members of the group engaged in bribery.
Malka told the Rishon Lezion Magistrate’s Court on Sunday that sexual relations took place between him and the employee, but it was consensual and there was no use of force.
Police said Sunday that one of those initially arrested would testify as a state witness against Malka. That same day Malka’s attorney, Zion Amir — famous for representing Moshe Katsav in the former president’s rape trial — announced that he wouldn’t represent Malka because he was called to testify in the case.
