18-year-old stabbed to death on her doorstep in Tel Aviv

An 18-year-old girl was stabbed to death Thursday afternoon outside her Tel Aviv apartment by an assailant who fled the scene of the crime, police said. Her twin sister and her sister’s boyfriend were arrested in connection with the killing shortly afterwards.

The sister, who was with the victim in the apartment at the time, said the girl had received a phone call and told her she needed to answer it outside. She then heard screams outside the door, rushed out and found her gravely injured with multiple stab wounds. She also said she saw the killer fleeing.

Paramedics were called to the house, located in Simtat Neta Street near Givatayim, but were unable to save the young woman. They pronounced her dead at the scene.

Police found statements given by the sister and her boyfriend suspicious, and the two were taken in for questioning.

Large numbers of police had deployed in the area after the crime to search for the suspect. Officials had said immediately after arriving at the scene that they didn’t believe it was a terror attack.
