A 22-year-old man was shot dead Wednesday morning in the northern Israeli town of Kafr Qara.

According to Hebrew language reports, Saed Zayd, who got married just last month, was shot in the head outside his home as he was leaving for work.

Police said the circumstances are under investigation, and the search for the perpetrators is ongoing.

MDA medics treated the man at the scene but were forced to declare him dead, according to a statement.

The Abraham Initiatives, a group campaigning against violence in the Arab community, said Zayd was the 68th fatality this year in the community, which has seen spiraling gun violence, linked mainly to organized crime.
