4 killed, a dozen injured in morning car crashes

Two Israeli women were killed in traffic accidents in Tuesday, bringing the number of dead in early-morning collisions to four.

Over a dozen people were injured in the spate of crashes throughout the country.

Near the West Bank town of Modiin Illit, a woman and a 5-year-old girl were critically injured when a tractor slipped off a truck transporting it and hit them. The two received emergency medical care at the scene and were brought to the Tel Hashomer Medical Center for further treatment.

The woman later died of her injuries.

A collision between two cars at the Arava Junction killed another woman who was not immediately identified, and injured eight others.

Earlier Tuesday, two men were killed when their car flipped over on a highway in the northern Negev. Two other men, reportedly passengers in the car, were moderately to seriously hurt in the accident. The four were traveling northbound on Route 264, between the kibbutzim of Shoval and Beit Kama.

According to police, all four were from the Bedouin town of Rahat, which lies just south of the site of the accident. The cause of the accident was not immediately clear.

Magen David Adom medics took the wounded to Beersheba’s Soroka Hospital.
