37-year-old mother of four stabbed to death in Jaffa

A 37-year-old mother of four and a man in his 50’s were stabbed to death in separate incidents on Tuesday night.

In the first killing, the woman was stabbed in the coastal city of Jaffa in front of her family members, according to an initial probe.

The Magen David ambulance service was called by police to an apartment on Siona Tajjar Street to treat the woman, who had suffered deep knife cuts to her neck and back.

Attempts at resuscitation failed, and the paramedics declared the woman dead at the scene.

“We entered the apartment and saw a woman in her 30’s lying there, unconscious, not breathing, without a pulse, and with signs of violence on her body. We gave her medical treatment and tried to resuscitate her, but in the end the paramedic was forced to pronounce her death,” said Arieh Farkush, a senior Magen David Adom paramedic.

Police later arrested the key suspect, the woman’s brother, after he fled the scene and hid out close by.

Another family member was arrested after bloodstains were found on his shirt.

A short while later, a man in his 50’s was stabbed and killed in Tirat HaCarmel, near Haifa. The motive for the stabbing was unclear and police said they were investigating.

Both victims were not immediately identified by police.

Earlier this week, an Israeli woman found beaten to death in the West Bank. The woman, identified as Howaida Shawa, 45, and her husband, who has not been named, were found in a car on Route 505, near Yakir Junction in the West Bank early Sunday morning. The husband sustained light injuries in what he told police was an armed robbery.

The couple was from the Israeli port city of Jaffa; the husband told police that they had visited an Arab village near the Israeli settlement of Yakir when they were attacked.
