Acquitted of forging artifacts, dealer is fined for illegal trading

Following his acquittal six weeks ago of faking archaeological items, dealer Oded Golan was nonetheless fined NIS 30,000 for trading in artifacts without a license and for possession of others that are suspected of being stolen goods.
Judge Aharon Farkash sentenced the artifact collector to the fine in Jerusalem District Court, Ynet reported on Wednesday.
Golan was previously cleared of faking various artifacts, including an inscription on a ossuary that appeared to identify the contents as being those of James, the brother of Jesus.
