Ahead of Purim, Israeli Opera to sell off costumes
Tel Aviv's opera house will open its closets in time for the dress-up holiday, and some items will go for a song
Need a Purim costume? You may be able to snag one at the Israeli Opera House, which is opening its costume closets to the public on February 11.
The opera will be selling off hundreds of costumes from its performances, priced from NIS 5 (around $1.42) to NIS 500 (around $142).
There are costumes for children as well as adults, with looks ranging from baroque and classical to fantasy.
In other words, something for everyone.
The Israeli Opera costume closet will open on February 11, 2 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Enter the Opera House from the main entrance at 19 Shaul Hamelech Boulevard, Tel Aviv.
The Purim holiday falls out this year on the evening of February 28 through sundown on March 1 (in Jerusalem, the holiday begins on the evening of March 1 until March 2).
The holiday, commemorating the biblical tale of an averted genocide of the Jews in the Persian empire some 2,500 years ago, is celebrated with costumes, parades, gift-giving, and the traditional reading of the Book of Esther.
