Security forces in the northern city of Afula shot an Arab woman Friday morning after she brandished a knife and attempted to stab one of them, police said.

The woman was in moderate condition and was evacuated to the city’s Ha’emek Hospital, emergency medical services said.

Paramedics on the scene also treated two people for shock following the incident.

The thwarted attempt was the fourth stabbing attack of the day in Israel and the West Bank.

A Jewish man stabbed four Arabs in the southern city of Dimona on Friday morning, hours before two Israelis were lightly injured in separate attacks by Palestinians.

In Jerusalem around noon, a Jewish teenager was lightly injured when he was stabbed by a Palestinian from Hebron. Several minutes later, in the West Bank settlement of Kiryat Arba, a policeman was stabbed and lightly injured by a Palestinian man who was then shot to death by other officers.

Afula was also the scene of a stabbing attack against an Israeli soldier on Thursday afternoon. The soldier was moderately wounded and his attacker was apprehended by police.

Friday’s stabbings come amid a wave of such attacks against Jewish Israelis.

In all, seven Israelis were injured in four stabbing incidents on Thursday, including attacks in Jerusalem and Kiryat Arba.

On Wednesday, Israelis were hurt in three stabbings.

Those attacks came days after two Israeli men were stabbed to death in the Old City of Jerusalem and an Israeli couple were gunned down in the West Bank in front of their four children.

At least seven Palestinians have been killed in the latest surge of violence, including four who were targeted while they were carrying out attacks against Israelis.
