Backstreet boys vow redo on nixed gigs

Boy band member Howie Dorough says the group's coming next spring

All hope isn’t lost for Backstreet Boys fans.

Band member Howie Dorough sent a recorded message to fans on Sunday, letting them know that the band is planning on rescheduling its canceled July performances in the spring of 2015.

“We’re so sorry we didn’t make it,” he said. “We were very excited about our first visit to Israel.”

The popular 1990s boy band, which was due to perform in Ra’anana on July 29, 30 and 31, canceled their shows due to Operation Protective Edge in the Gaza Strip and rocket fire throughout the country.

The Backstreet Boys had initially planned one concert, but ended up adding two additional nights after tickets for the first performance sold out in two hours.

The group, Dorough, A.J. McLean, Brian Littrell, Nick Carter and Kevin Richardson, are currently celebrating 21 years together with a world tour, and recently released a new album, “In A World Like This.”

When the shows were nixed, the band insisted they were only “postponing,” not canceling the performances.

“Thank you for keeping Backstreet pride alive!” said Dorough.
