Barak lands prestigious financial gig

Former prime minister and defense minister Ehud Barak has found himself a new job, as special consultant to the Julius Baer private banking group, Channel 10 reported Monday.

The bank, which caters to an extremely rich clientele, reportedly manages some $300 billion (NIS 1.89 trillion) worldwide and has recently opened a branch in Israel. Barak’s job, the Israeli news outlet said, was to recruit the country’s multimillionaires as new clients.

In fact, the report said, the former prime minister has already started talking to his many contacts in Israel’s business world and introduced Julius Baer’s local CEO to real-estate mogul Alfred Akirov and other prominent figures during the recent Presidential Conference in Jerusalem.

Barak will reportedly earn hundreds of thousands of dollars per year, although both he and the bank refused to comment on the specifics.
