The evacuation of the West Bank outpost of Migron will be carried out without delay by the court-ordered September 4 deadline, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Wednesday on Army Radio.

“The decision of the Supreme Court is binding and important,” he said. “This hurts the Migron residents, who are very principled people although I disagree with their positions. But the law is the law.”

On Tuesday the Supreme Court ruled that all Migron residents must be evacuated by September 4 and their buildings destroyed by September 11, after an extension of a previous evacuation decision was not approved.

Migron was found to be built on privately owned Palestinian land. The settlers are to move onto a nearby hill as part of a deal with the government.

Several evacuation dates have been set in the past, though they have been pushed off by petitions and court orders.
