A fire broke out in a family home Sunday morning in the Bedouin village of Hura, killing a 3-year-old boy and injuring three others.

Three family members were evacuated to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, where they are being treated for burns and smoke inhalation.

Among the injured are the toddler’s siblings, a four-year-old girl who is listed in critical condition and a five-year-old in moderate condition.

The children were reportedly rescued from the burning home by neighbors who rushed in to pull them out.

The fire broke out at 10 a.m. in the family’s home, a semi-permanent structure common among the semi-nomadic Bedouin.

Firefighters from Beersheba, who responded to the fire, said the remoteness of the village prevented them from arriving at the scene sooner.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the fire.
