The body of a man in his thirties was found in a West Bank nature reserve Friday.
Police were examining whether the unidentified man, whose remains were found in an advanced state of decomposition, was the victim of a nationally motivated murder.
It was not immediately clear if the man was Israeli or Palestinian.
The area in which the body was found was the scene of several crimes in the past, according to Channel 10.
A ranger found the body on Friday afternoon in the Wadi Kelt natural reserve northeast of Jerusalem, near the settlement of Kfar Adumim, and alerted police.
The body was sent to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute in Jaffa for examination.
