A 3-year-old boy was killed Tuesday in the central city of Lod, after a relative of his accidentally hit him while backing up with his truck.
The boy was later identified as Muhamed Shaaban.
Paramedics said they found the boy with multiple injuries and no vital signs. The first responders tried to resuscitate the toddler but were forced to declare him dead at the scene.
Officers opened an investigation into the accident on Aba Hillel Street.
Traffic inspectors examined the site of the accident while officers searched for the vehicle that hit the boy, police said.
