Breaking from Syria talks, Kerry to visit Israel
Top American diplomat to discuss peace talks and regional developments with Netanyahu

US Secretary of State John Kerry will travel to Israel this weekend to meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss ongoing peace talks with the Palestinians and developments in Syria.
Taking a break from contentious negotiations in Geneva with Russia over securing Syria’s chemical weapons, Kerry will fly to Israel on Sunday and meet Netanyahu in Jerusalem.
“The purpose of the visit it to have an in-depth discussion with the Prime Minister on the final status negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians,” State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said. “They will also focus on developments in Syria.”
Kerry had planned to meet Netanyahu earlier this month in Rome on his last trip to Europe. During that trip, he saw Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas in London.
