Cameron thanks Israel’s envoy for ‘kind’ comments
In hand-signed letter, British PM praises outgoing ambassador Daniel Taub for strengthening bilateral ties, saying 'kind things about me'
British Prime Minister David Cameron on Monday sent a letter to Israel’s outgoing ambassador to the United Kingdom, Daniel Taub, thanking him for his work to strengthen UK-Israel ties.
British-born and educated, Taub assumed office in 2011. His replacement has not yet been announced.
“When you look back at your time serving in Britain, you should be proud of all that you have achieved,” wrote Cameron in the personally signed missive.
The prime minister highlighted improved trade ties, which have doubled over the past decade, and joint cooperation in science, high-tech and academia.
He also lauded the Israeli ambassador for fostering the relationship between the two countries, and playing a “crucial role” in reaffirming Jerusalem and London’s shared democratic values.
“Relationships have also grown stronger and this was particularly evident when I visited Israel last year,” Cameron wrote.
Above his signature, the British prime minister hand wrote: “And thank you for the many kind things you have said about me!”
Cameron signed the letter in a familiar manner, closing simply with “David.”
