A Code Red alert sounded in Israel’s southern region Friday, but was not followed by an explosion.

The siren was heard in the Arava and Eilot regions, as well as in the Eilat area.

Israeli media reported that the siren was a false alarm, which was set off due to a technical glitch.

On Tuesday, a Grad rocket was fired from the Gaza Strip at the coastal city of Ashkelon, breaking months of quiet between Israel and the Palestinian enclave.
