A Colombian citizen was arrested for attempting to smuggle cocaine sewn into his pants through Ben Gurion Airport, police said Sunday.

The suspect, 70, arrived in Israel on a flight from Brazil and was arrested at the airport on suspicion of carrying three kilograms of cocaine.

According to the Walla news site, the Colombian man told investigators he was smuggling the drugs because of debts he accumulated.

The Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court extended his remand by four days on Sunday and police said the investigation was ongoing.
