Dear Times of Israel Community member,

Tune in now (or on-demand) to a new Behind the Headlines interview, exclusively for the ToI Community.

Former Mossad chief Efraim Halevy sits down with ToI Founding Editor David Horovitz to discuss the weight of responsibility in Halevy’s former role, the Mossad’s uniqueness on the international agency stage, and the key security challenges Israel faces at the moment.

Efraim Halevy is interviewed by the Times of Israel’s David Horovitz, February 26, 2017. (Luke Tress/Times of Israel)

Halevy served as the 9th director of the Mossad from 1998-2002. He has served in other capacities in the Mossad since 1961, his most memorable and impressive mission being his part in bringing about the Israel-Jordan peace treaty, signed in 1994. In 2006, he published a book Man in the Shadows: Inside the Middle East Crisis with a Man Who Led the Mossad, about the secret work and global impact of the Mossad’s missions, specifically the fight against Islamic terrorism.
