Israel Unlocked: Jewish Babylon & The Exiles of Jerusalem [THURSDAY]

Dear Times of Israel Community member,

Please join us this Thursday, July 15, for a special installment of our Israel Unlocked virtual tour series, exclusive to the ToI Community.

This week, ahead of Tisha B’Av, the annual Jewish day of mourning for the destruction of the two Jerusalem Temples, we’ll follow the historical exiles of Jerusalem through a fascinating virtual tour of Jewish Babylon.

Our expert guide Josh Hartuv will lead us on this experiential tour of the Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem, then trek with the Jewish exiles through modern day Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, and Iraq until arriving in the city of Babylon itself. See how the Israelites/Jews survived and even thrived in these diaspora communities, which were, for over a millennium, the center of the Jewish world.

About our guide: Josh Hartuv, a licensed Israeli tour guide, was one of the first guides to develop virtual tours when COVID-19 struck. The goal of his virtual experiences is to use the medium of the internet to bring Israel to life in ways that are actually impossible in person. Josh grew up in Hamilton, Ontario and made aliya at age 22 to enlist in the Paratroopers as a lone soldier. He loves to show people of all ages and from all over the world his favorite sites and to tell the stories that make this land so fascinating.
