Dear Times of Israel Community member,
Please join us this Tuesday, March 23 for the next installment of the Israel Unlocked virtual tour series, exclusive to the ToI Community. This week, as we approach the Passover holiday, traditionally marking the Jews’ exodus from Egypt and journey toward Sinai, we’re going to the southern desert region around Mount Sinai.

We’ll visit the stunning St. Catherine’s monastery and Jabal Moussa, as well as other desert sites significant to the Israelites and other peoples who trekked through and lived there. Our tour guide, Josh Hartuv will delve into the lives of the ancients to help us understand how it was possible that people could enjoy great lives while in the harshest conditions. These sites and stories are difficult for many people to see in real life – this virtual experience is a unique opportunity to explore these places, and doesn’t require any mountain climbing!

About our guide
Josh Hartuv a licensed Israeli tour guide, was one of the first guides to develop virtual tours when COVID-19 struck. The goal of his virtual experiences is to use the medium of the internet to bring Israel to life in ways that are actually impossible in person. Josh grew up in Hamilton, Ontario and made aliyah at age 22 to enlist in the Paratroopers as a lone soldier. He loves to show people of all ages and from all over the world his favorite sites and to tell the stories that make this land so fascinating.
