STARTING SOON: Israel Unlocked in the Red City, Haifa

Dear Times of Israel Community member,

Please join us today — Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at 12 noon ET — for the next installment of our Israel Unlocked virtual tour series, exclusive to the ToI Community. We will go north to virtually visit Haifa, some 80 years after the first ship with “illegal” immigrants broke through the British blockade on the Haifa shores.

When looking at Israel’s cities, the joke goes “Jerusalem prays, Tel Aviv plays, but Haifa works.” Known as the Red City for its strong labor unions, Haifa is also one of the most diverse cities in Israel. Come see the sites of this fascinating city by the bay and meet its personalities — from the Prophet Elijah to Abba Hushi.

From left to right: Bahai Gardens (IOKatah), Port of Haifa and Aerial view of Haifa (Zvi Roger)
