Train services were thrown into chaos on Tuesday after the track was closed between the coastal cities of Herzliya and Netanya due to an incident during morning rush hour.

Commuters, facing heavy delays, complained on social media that there was a lack of information provided by authorities as to how they would be able to complete their journeys, with replacement bus services not immediately available.

Emergency services and officials were on the scene to investigate the incident that led to the closure of the track.

Later on Tuesday morning Israel Railways said the track had reopened and that services were gradually returning to normal.
