Company recalls boots after swastikas found on soles
Reddit user uploads photos showing bottom of footwear with Nazi symbols, imprints left on ground
A Los Angeles-based shoe distributor has recalled a line of men’s boots after a customer discovered swastikas incorporated into the design of the soles.
The boots, dubbed Polar Fox, leave imprints of the Nazi symbol.
The company issued a public apology and a recall of the product.
“This was in no way intentional, it was an obvious mistake made by our manufacturers in China,” Conal International Trading Inc. wrote in a letter, according to the LA Times. “We never intended to have any swastikas design on our shoes.”
The company was made aware of the issue after a user on the popular forum Reddit posted photos of the soles of his boots and the imprints of swastikas they left on the ground.
“There was an angle I didn’t get to see when ordering my new work boots,” the Reddit user said.
The company said it will “not be selling any of our boots with the misprint to anyone. We would never create a design to promote hate. We don’t promote hate at our company.”
