An Israeli police officer shot and injured a knife-wielding man Sunday in the southern Israel city of Kiryat Gat.
Officers in Kiryat Gat opened fire on the man after he lunged at them as he ignored their calls for him to drop the knife.
They had been called to the scene by reports of a suspicious man in the area.
The man, in his 60s, sustained light to moderate leg wounds during the incident, in a local park, according to a police statement.
The man, who is known to police, apparently suffers from mental health issues. Police are investigating the incident.
