Gunmen opened fire at a home in an upscale Tel Aviv neighborhood on Saturday night in a suspected criminal shooting.

The unidentified assailants targeted the home of a known criminal in the Tzahala neighborhood in the northern part of the city. There were no casualties.

Several bullets struck the man’s home and vehicle, Channel 12 reported. A witness reported hearing seven or eight shots.

The target was believed to be a man connected to trafficking women, the Ynet news site reported.

The man has had previous conflicts with underworld figures, has survived several assassination attempts and at some point served as a state’s witness, the report said.

Police said the shooting was likely intended to “send a warning message” and stressed that it was criminal, not terror.

The attack will be further investigated, police said.

In a separate criminal incident, mob chief Benny Shlomo was gunned down in broad daylight outside Tel Aviv on Monday.
