Driver who seriously injured cop in Tel Aviv hit-and-run arrested
Kafr Kassem resident, 23, abandoned his vehicle after crash; his license had been suspended
After a massive search, police on Saturday arrested a 23-year-old man from Kafr Kassem in connection with the hit and run incident in Tel Aviv earlier that day that left a police officer seriously wounded.
Police said the driver who hit a volunteer police officer on a motorcycle as he rode on the Ayalon Highway and fled the scene was arrested shortly after he abandoned his vehicle.
The manhunt for the driver included police helicopters and an appeal to the public for assistance.
According to reports, the suspect was driving on a suspended license.
Two other drivers involved in the accident were also arrested.
All three will be brought before the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court on Sunday for a remand hearing.
The wounded police officer was taken to Tel Aviv’s Ichilov Hospital where he was undergoing treatment.
