Drunk driver in North kills one, seriously injures another

Assaf Lieberman, 25, was killed while standing at Mahanayim Junction

A 40–year-old driver from Katzrin swerved off-road at Mahanayim Junction on Friday, killing a pedestrian and seriously injuring another.

Initial police investigations found that the driver was impaired by a combination of prescription medication and alcohol, and lost control of his vehicle. The car swerved onto the traffic island, killing 25-year-old Assaf Lieberman and seriously injuring a 27-year-old woman.

The woman was airlifted to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa.

Eight people were killed and 10 were injured this week in car accidents.
