E. Jerusalem man indicted for calls to murder Israelis
Muhammad Abu Kaf, 21, uploaded video that tells Israelis, 'We are the emissaries of hell sent for you'
Prosecutors on Sunday filed an indictment against an East Jerusalem man suspected of posting a video online urging Palestinians to “stab Zionists.”
Muhammad Abu Kaf, 21, from the neighborhood of Sur Baher, was charged with eight counts of incitement to violence or terror.
According to the indictment, reported by the Ynet news site, Abu Kaf posted multiple times to Facebook in October urging the killing of Jews, and uploaded a video to the YouTube video sharing site urging Palestinian to “stab Zionists in support of the Third Intifada.”
The video shows a masked man stabbing an IDF soldier, as well as burning an Israeli flag.
In on-screen text, it warns Israelis in Hebrew to “leave our country…. Tomorrow we shall destroy you, we are the history here, and we are the emissaries of hell sent for you, sons of Zion.”
Abu Kaf allegedly took to Facebook to laud stabbings attacks against Israelis, praising the “martyrs” who murdered Aharon Bennett and Nehemia Lavi in Jerusalem in early October, and writing of their funeral: “All of us are going to die; blessings to the one who dies a martyr.”
In the indictment, Jerusalem District prosecutors appealed for a remand till the end of the trial, citing the “seriously, nature, character and systematic repetition” of Abu Kaf’s incitement.
According to the prosecutors, “the timing at so sensitive and explosive a period, and his persistence, indeed, alacrity, even as the violence for which he called was being realized,” created “a reasonable basis to believe he is a danger to the public.”
