Israeli airline faces labor dispute over work conditions
The El Al pilots union warned Sunday of impending disruptions to flights this summer due to an ongoing dispute with the national airline’s management over working conditions.
According to a statement by the union’s leader, Captain Nir Tzuk, El Al management refused to adopt recommendations offered by the workers to ease the work pressure of the summer’s busy flight schedule.
Tzuk said that the recommendations had no financial impact and that he feared that the management’s disregard arose from ego battles.
“It is important for us to warn now, at the start of the peak season with its hundreds of planned flights, that because of management’s behavior, there is a likelihood that flights will be disrupted,” read the statement.
El Al had no immediate comment on the issue.
