Elderly man killed in bus collision; woman seriously injured by train
In separate incidents, a 60-year-old pedestrian is seriously injured in Ramat Gan collision and a 71-year-old man drowns in Tel Aviv
An elderly man was killed after being struck by a bus in central Israel on Friday, in a spate of accidents early Friday morning that also saw a man drown at a Tel Aviv beach and a woman in northern Israel hit by a train.
The 70-year-old man died after being hit by a bus in the central Israel city of Petah Tikva, the Beilinson Hospital and police confirmed.
“A 70-year-old pedestrian was struck this morning by a bus near the Bar Kochba Street crossing in Petah Tikva and died of his wounds. The circumstances are being examined by accident investigators,” the Israel Police wrote on Twitter.
Earlier Friday, in northern Israel, a woman crossing the train tracks on foot was hit by a train near an underpass in the Bat Galim neighborhood of Haifa. She was rushed to the city’s Rambam Hospital in serious condition. Train services were temporarily disrupted by the incident.
In Tel Aviv, a 71-year-old man died Friday after drowning at the popular Gordon Beach. A crew from the Magen David Adom emergency service unsuccessfully attempted to revive the man and he was pronounced dead at the scene. It appeared the man had lost consciousness in the water due to an unspecified medical condition, medics said.
Elsewhere, a 60-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle on Hayarden Street in Ramat Gan. Paramedics and ambulance staff administered medical treatment at the site and the man was later taken to Tel Hashomer hospital.
