About the festival:

Drawing more than 60 writers from Israel and around the globe for a few days of literary encounters, readings, workshops and discussions, The Third International Writers Festival at Mishkenot Sha’ananim is indeed cause for celebration for lovers of literature in Jerusalem, in Israel and indeed the world over. Renowned and respected authors from such a wide variety of countries, as Algeria and India, Italy and Argentina, Bosnia and the U.S. and more, will meet their Israeli counterparts and build bridges of cultural amity and understanding.

Initiated and produced by the prominent Programme Department of Mishkenot Sha’ananim, the Festival has established a name for itself in the Israeli literary arena and many look forward to it with anticipation. A number of other institutions in the city will take part in the event and even Montefiore’s historic windmill, now being meticulously restored by the Jerusalem Foundation, will be decorated in honour of the Festival.
Culture in Jerusalem is a vast concept, not comprised of any one single element, rather embracing a rich variety of cultures creating a mosaic different from any other. The Jerusalem Foundation will continue to support the International Writers Festival, enabling Jerusalem to be a standard bearer and fulfill the Talmudic phrase: “The envy of scholars increases wisdom.”
