Fire in central town of Kochav Yair destroys several homes
People in nearby streets evacuated as numerous firefighting teams work for hours to gain control of blaze

A large fire erupted Thursday afternoon in Kochav Yair in central Israel, destroying at least three homes and leading to evacuations of some areas.
There were no reports of casualties.
Dozens of firefighting teams, with the help of planes, fought the flames across eight streets.
Police evacuated several homes — the first and second rows of homes on the eastern side of the community.
Firefighters were able to gain control of the fire after a few hours.
“There are still several points of fire, but there is no danger of it spreading. The teams are continuing their work,” a spokesperson for the Fire and Rescue Service said.
