FM: Syria rejected Israeli aid offers

Foreign Miister Avigdor Lieberman told reporters Sunday that Syria has rejected humanitarian aid offered to it by Israel via the Red Cross and the Arab League. In an adress before Druse council heads in Beit Jan, Lieberman said that Israel made the aid offers both publicly and through back channels, but was rebuffed.

According to Israel Radio, Liebermen also addressed the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, stating that Israel had made major steps towards reaching just peace with the Palestinians, but that the keys to peace are not in Israel’s hands. He pointed to the social and political structure in Arab countries as the main obstacle to the peace process.
