Former defense minister suffers mild heart attack

Moshe Arens transferred to hospital in stable condition after fainting in Tel Aviv

Former defense minister Moshe Arens suffered a mild heart attack and was admitted to Tel Hashomer Hospital Monday evening.

Arens, 87, was said to be in stable condition after receiving initial treatment by Magen Daviv Adom paramedics in Tel Aviv.

Arens served as defense minister three times in the 1980s and 90s and also served as foreign minister between 1988-1990 and as Israel’s Ambassador to the US in 1982. Since retiring from politics in 2003, Arens has been a contributor to Haaretz and is currently the chairman of the International Board of Governors of Ariel University.
