Fight at second polling station, two held; Lod council candidate in serious condition after Monday night shooting
Unconfirmed reports said four people were injured during a violent clash near a polling station in the northern Arab town of Jadeidi-Makr on Tuesday.
Initial reports of gunfire near the polling station were confirmed by police, but the shooting was unconnected to election violence, police said.
The injured, all of whom sustained only light injuries, were taken to a hospital in Nahariya.
Earlier Tuesday, a fight broke out at a polling station in the Arab town of Sakhnin. Police detained two men for questioning.
On Monday night Abd al-Karim Azbarga, the A-Nida Al Arab party candidate for the Lod city council, was leaving a campaign event at a house in Lod shortly before midnight when a masked man shot him in the stomach.
