Five rockets fired at Netivot

Five Grad rockets were fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip Tuesday evening, three of which were shot down by the Iron Dome missile defense system.

Two rockets landed near Netivot, no damage or injuries were reported.

Earlier Tuesday a Kassam rocket was fired from Gaza into the Shaar Hanegev region of southern Israel.

The rocket landed near a kibbutz in the area, damaging a chicken coop, but causing no injuries to humans or fowl.

Israel and Gaza entered into a tacit ceasefire on Sunday after several days of rocket fire and Israeli sorties against terror targets in Gaza.

Sporadic rocket and mortar fire has continued since then, but the sides have mostly kept to the truce.

On Monday, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations Ron Prosor submitted a second complaint to the Security Council over the rocket fire.

“A million Israelis are threatened by Gazan rockets,” he wrote. “Since my complaint four days ago, 87 more rockets have been fired at Israeli cities. The Security Council’s silence could have serious consequences and spark an escalation of the dispute.”
