Fox commentator: Parkland survivors need belief in Jesus Christ

Former Republican congressman Jason Chaffetz gives his thoughts for the students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, at least 40% of whom are Jewish

Former Republican congressman and current Fox News commentator Jason Chaffetz said Wednesday that the survivors of a Florida high school mass shooting need a belief in Jesus Christ.

His comments come despite the fact that at least 40 percent of students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida are Jewish, according to the local Chabad house.

While he was asked to comment on Congress’s decision to publicly pay its respects to the late Reverand Bill Graham who passed away last week, Chaffetz used the opportunity to offer his thoughts on the aftermath of the shooting.

“We need more good news, more good message, more of the good word reaching out to America,” he began.

“I think of those kids who went back to school today after that horrific shooting, and they need something more.

“They need a belief in God and Jesus Christ. I think that would help,” Chaffetz concluded.

Four Jewish students and a teacher were among the 17 victims killed during the massacre in Parkland.

On Wednesday, students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School returned to classes for the first time since the February 14 incident.
