French crooner Emma Shapplin plans return concert

Singer will perform in January in Tel Aviv

French chanteuse Emma Shapplin is planning a return visit to Tel Aviv, with a January 31, 2023, concert at Tel Aviv’s Bronfman Auditorium.

Shapplin told Israeli fans that she misses Israel and is very happy to return.

She was last in Israel in April 2019, performing at the Bronfman Auditorium, where she was joined by Idan Raichel for four songs, two of which they composed together.

According to some Israel media reviews, the duo’s performance together was marked by a painful lack of coordination and rehearsals.

Shapplin, 44, began her career in classical music, and has forged a style that combines opera, trance and rock.

Her debut album, “Carmine Meo,” was released in 1997, followed by 2002’s “Etterna,” and the more commercial, pop-oriented “Macadam Flower” in 2009.
