Gaza mom, 21, struggling with 11 kids
Husband says feeding large family is 'a daily burden,' despite government assistance
In a modern take on the old English nursery rhyme, a 21-year-old Gaza woman who mothered 11 children over a period of seven years said in a television interview to Palestinian media that she faces difficulty paying for her family’s sustenance.
The mother told reporters she is happy with her nine daughters and two sons, but she cannot afford to feed them, despite receiving aid from the Palestinian Authority.
“I cannot provide them with enough food and clothing…their daily needs are beyond my resources,” her 25-year-old husband, Raad Al Batash, said in television interview. “What we received from them [the government] was too little compared to my children’s daily needs…most of the aid has been used to buy medicine for them,” he said.
According to the report, the 11 children had been born over a period of seven years, including twin boys, quadruplet girls and quintuplet girls.
“I really face difficulty in feeding them, dressing them and bathing them…it’s a daily burden,” the young mother, who was not named in the report, said.
