Google Israel ups the ante on online sales
Shopping IL is Google's first 48-hour online sale hosted in Israel
Seeking some shopping therapy during these stressful days? You could head to Shopping IL, Google Israel’s first organized attempt at luring Israelis to the wonders of shopping online.
The 48-hour shopping bonanza began Tuesday, November 11 and will continue through Wednesday, November 12.
The company gathered Israel’s best-loved brands and stores in one website, offering special deals and sales and easy, quick, home deliveries.
Some 150 Israeli companies are participating in the blue-and-white event, offering discounts of up to 75%, and more than 750 deals altogether.
According to Roni Levin at Google, some 100,000 people had shopped on the Shopping IL site by Tuesday evening.
Those are promising numbers for online shopping, given that as of 2011, online purchases were just half a percent of Israel’s GDP, compared to 3.5% in Britain. Israelis are more accustomed to buying tickets to events and concerts online, said Levin.
