Gordon Ramsay visits Jerusalem, agape and in awe
Celebrity chef appears stunned by the Old City and Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Instagram videos
Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay visited Jerusalem and posted a series of videos voicing enthusiastic praise for the Old City to his Instagram account on Thursday.
The famously foul-mouthed chef appeared mostly lost for words as he toured through the windy streets of the city, admiring the colors and people of the Jerusalem souk before visiting the Church of the Holy Sepulchre with a guide.
“First time in Jerusalem,” Ramsey says in the video. “This place is crazy. Crazy!”
After entering the Christian quarter, the remainder of the video was made up strictly of exclamations of amazement.
“Look at that, beautiful! Oh my Lord,” he utters. “Wow. This is beautiful. I mean really beautiful.”
In the video, the guide explains the different parts of the Sepulchre church and Ramsay watches the pilgrims washing the stone where Jesus’s body was said to have been washed before being buried.
“Wow. Amazing. Look at this. Pretty incredible,” was all Ramsay was able to say. “Absolutely stunning.”
The last video clip showed the menu at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, which was created especially for Ramsay.
There was no explanation of why the chef was in Israel or whether he had business meetings in the capital.
