Haifa woman suspected of daubing swastika, Nazi slogan in spat with neighbor
Police say woman detained for questioning after graffiti of anti-Semitic phrase and symbol found
Israel Police said Monday that a woman had been detained for questioning in Haifa on suspicion that she sprayed a swastika and a Nazi slogan on the wall of her apartment building amid a spat with a neighbor.
In addition to the swastika, daubed in red paint, the phrase “Nazi Juden,” or “Nazi Jew” was also written on the wall.
The woman, 52, was brought to the northern city’s police station for questioning, police said, adding that the investigation is ongoing.
Earlier this year hate crime charges were filed against a man who was arrested on suspicion of daubing swastikas on graves at a Haifa cemetery for British casualties of World War I and World War II.
According to the charge sheet, the 35-year-old suspect from northern Israel also uprooted two gravestones at the Haifa War Cemetery and adjacent Templar cemetery during the October 2019 incident, in addition to defacing dozens of British soldiers’ graves with the Nazi symbol.
