Hasidic teen’s upbeat bottom-to-top poem goes viral
'Worst day ever?' seems to convey a depressing message, but the meaning changes when it's read from last line first
A clever poem written by a Hasidic Brooklyn high school student has gone viral after a British man uploaded a picture of it to Twitter.
Chanie Gorkin, an 11th grader who attends an all-girls school and lives in the Hasidic Community of Crown Heights, posted the poem to the site poetrynation.com earlier this year, her mother told ABC news on Thursday.
Ronnie Joice saw a printed version of the poem at a bar in North London and decided to tweet an image of it to his followers.
At first glance, the poem, titled “Worst day ever?,” seems to convey a depressing message, but when read line by line in reverse, an optimistic outlook of the world is revealed.
Chanie’s mother told ABC that her daughter was unable to comment on the poem at this time because “she is busy having too much fun at summer camp.”
