The bullets, thought to be from a 0.5 inch machine gun, hit two cars and the wall of a cafe near Kibbutz Yad Mordachai. IDF forces returned fire at the source of the shooting.

There was speculation that the original shots may have been fired by mistake as there is no line of sight from Gaza to the place where the rounds hit.

Earlier in the day, a Kassam rocket fired from Gaza landed in the nearby Eshkol region. The rocket landed in an open area, causing no injuries or damage.
