Hezbollah says it killed Beirut bombing accomplice
Islamic State operative in Homs reportedly drove suicide bombers who carried out November 12 attack that killed 45
Hezbollah announced Thursday night that it had assassinated an Islamic State operative who participated in the bombing of its southern Beirut stronghold earlier this month.
The report was publicized by al-Manar, a news network affiliated with the Shiite terror group.
The IS operative was identified as Abd a-Salam al-Hendawi. He was said killed in the Syrian city of Homs in a joint operation between Hezbollah and Syrian regime forces, the news site Walla reported.
He had transported the suicide bombers who carried out that attack, al-Manar said.
At least 45 people were killed in the November 12 twin suicide attack.
Islamic State took responsibility that very day.
“In a security operation that pleases Allah, the soldiers of the Caliphate were able to park an explosive bike and blow it up in a crowd of infidels… in the southern Dahieh suburb of Beirut,” IS said in a statement.
