Human skeleton washes up on Herzliya coast; police investigate

Identity of person whose remains were pulled from the water on Apollonia Beach not known

The Israel Police said Sunday it opened an investigation after a human skeleton washed up on a beach in the central coastal city of Herzliya last week.

Police were alerted to the skeleton, found on Apollonia Beach, on Thursday.

Officers who arrived at the scene pulled the remains from the water and they were sent to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute for examination over the weekend.

Tests confirmed that the skeleton was that of a human being, but the identity of the person is still unknown, police said.
