Husband arrested after Bat Yam woman found killed
Police searching for motive as man reportedly admits to murdering wife, 40
Police arrested a 29-year-old resident of Bat Yam early Sunday morning after his wife was found murdered in their apartment in the seaside city.
Following noise complaints from neighbors, law enforcement arrived at the couple’s home to find the badly beaten body of the 40-year-old woman before dawn on Sunday.
Still at the scene, the husband admitted to the crime and was promptly detained by police, according to Hebrew-language media reports.
“When we entered the apartment, we saw the woman lying unconscious. Signs of violence were found all over her body. After a short time, we were forced to declare her death at the scene of the crime,” said Magen David Adom emergency services paramedic Kobi Mashiach.
Neighbors said the couple had only been living together in the home for a short while, but there had been no indication of trouble in their relationship, according to reports.
Police said the suspect has no criminal background and are probing for a motive.
The suspect is scheduled to be brought before the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court for a remand hearing later Sunday.
