IDF finds remains of 2 rockets fired into Golan Heights
Katyushas, which landed overnight Friday but caused no injuries or damage, likely launched from Syria
Two Katyusha rockets that exploded overnight were found Saturday morning near Israel’s border with Syria.
The projectiles were heard impacting loudly just after midnight Saturday in the Golan Heights. The IDF began its search Saturday morning, and the remains of the rockets were found several hours later in the Mount Hermon area.
The rockets were believed to have been launched into Israel as a result of fighting between Syrian President Bashar Assad and rebel forces, but there was a possibility that groups in Lebanon launched them. The IDF later said it believed the projectiles were fired from Syria as a result of battles between Assad and the opposition, meaning that they weren’t deliberately launched into Israeli territory.
The rockets caused no injuries or damage.
