Military Police officers this week interrogated an army officer suspected of having an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate, the army said on Monday.

The lieutenant colonel, a battalion commander, was suspended from his position for two weeks while he is under investigation, the military said.

The affair was said to be consensual, but violated army policy as it was between a superior officer and a subordinate.

The lieutenant colonel’s name has not been released.

Last year, a similar incident occurred in the mixed-gender Caracal Battalion.

Lt. Col. Elad Cohen was dismissed from his position in July 2017 amid allegations that he too had an illicit, but consensual, relationship with a subordinate officer.
